About us

Officially launched on 21st July 2004, the African Industrial Association intends to promote at the national, regional and international levels, the durability of the African industry.

The association wants also to facilitate a Public/Private, North/South and a South/South dialogue on the issues related to African industrial development.

AIA's actions are also undertaken in the framework of African customs unions such as the WAEMU, the CEMAC or the COMESA. Having a panafrican ambition, the AIA remains open to members coming from regions like the SADC or Northern Africa.

The AIA also plays a monitoring role in the international trade negotiations to ensure that these regulations consider the concerns of the African industry.

To that end, the AIA works for a better understanding of the African industrial context among policy makers of multilateral institutions such as the WTO, the EU, the UNCTAD or the World Bank.

The association also contributes to the development of partnerships between the African and the European private sector
